Concerts for Children

The orchestra’s education department opens up a multicultural world full of melodies, Hebrew piyutim, songs from the golden age of Spain and Jewish/Arab Andalusian music for children and young adults. The orchestra presents theatrical concerts for all ages from kindergarten to high school and music education programs for schools and kindergartens across the country.

The orchestra’s education department aims to nurture sensitivity and openness to different musical styles and traditions and provide Israeli schoolchildren with the tools they need to appreciate quality music while strengthening their Jewish musical and cultural roots. The concerts are part of the national extra-curricular cultural basket offered to children throughout the school system from kindergarten to high school.

Melodies Between East and West

The Jerusalem Orchestra East and West is delighted to present Melodies between East and West, a digital enrichment program. The program comprises three “meetings” with facilitator Sofi Tsedaka: live and Zoom meetings, and a filmed summation meeting, which will be screened in the class together with the teacher. Before the program, the teacher and the pedagogical consultant will be invited to a preparatory meeting.

During the meetings, the moderator, Sofi Tsedaka, will allocate various listening tasks, which will include guided listening with integrated movement, work in groups, familiarization with and experimenting with graphic scores, interactive musical puzzles and more. The teacher and the students will carry out the tasks together. The program also includes listening to various pieces using different artistic genres such as acting, music, and movement that will introduce the student to their most prominent characteristics.
