Our Creations Throughout the Years

Season 12

2020-21

׳The Jerusalem Andalusian Orchestra׳

1. "Gibraltar"

Conductor: Matan Yona

On the Strait of Gibraltar, Europe, Africa, Spain, Morocco, the oud and Flamenco guitar meet. Together with two of Israel’s best Flamenco dancers, Sharon Saguy and Keren Pesach, the huge voice of Flamenco singer, Yehuda Shawki, who also serves as musical consultant for the performance, will be two international stars from Spanish Morocco, Dalal Barnoussi and virtuoso guitarist Fyty Carrillo (Spain).

2. Ehud Banai – Artist’s Profile / Stations in Time

Conductor: Tom Cohen

Introducing a new project in which the orchestra hosts the artists who have shaped Israeli music. A journey that starts with the songs they listened to as a child, moves through their musical influences and continues to their creations, which crafted our cultural DNA.

And who could be more fitting to open this new tradition than the Canaanite troubadour – Ehud Banai – who, together with the orchestra, will take us on a trip from HaAgas Street 1 to the biggest stages in Israel.

Guest artist: Sami Shufani (The Voice).

3. The Piano and The Orchestra

Conductor: Nizar Elkhater

One of the most important instruments in Western music turns into a fascinating bridge between two continents and musical styles with three virtuoso pianists: Omri Mor, who weaves together the piano and the music of North Africa, Guy Mintus, who combines jazz with Turkish and Greek music, and Nizar Elkhater who ties the Rahbani brothers from Lebanon to Austria’s Mozart.

4. "הראל סקעת שר עופרה חזה"

Conductor: Tom Cohen

A heartfelt and extraordinary tribute by renowned singer, Harel Skaat, who, with the help of the orchestra, will breathe new life into the work of musical legend, the late Ofra Haza, who was a constant presence throughout his childhood and shaped his musical personality.
Haza, who earned the title the “biggest selling Israeli artist of all time,” touched the lives of many throughout the world with her songs, which blended the world of pop and soul with Yemenite roots music. Using the unique language of the orchestra and with the help of a rare performer, we will try to present a contemporary version of these pearls.
